BLUEQ - Applied Solutions for Monitoring Coastal Habitats and Quantifying Blue Carbon Storage: An Integrated Approach for Sustainable Ecosystem Management


BLUEQ addresses critical conservation and management of Posidonia Oceanica meadows in the Adriatic-Ionian region. It develops tailored solutions for habitat mapping, carbon stock assessment, and a comprehensive Blue Carbon Strategy, promoting sustainable practices to preserve biodiversity and support long-term ecosystem resilience.
STATUS AND DURATION OF THE PROJECT: 36 months (01.09.2024. - 31.08.2027.)

- Total project budget: 1.447.940,14 EUR
- INTERREG funding: 1.230.749,11, odnosno 85%
- Public Institution Nature of Šibenik-Knin County budget: 173.999,20 EUR
THE ROLE OF THE PUBLIC INSTITUTION NATURE OF ŠIBENIK-KNIN COUNTY:
PI Nature participates in raising awareness about the importance of marine ecosystems through educational workshops, school visits, and stakeholder engagement. It also conducts ecological assessments of habitats, mapping Posidonia oceanica meadows, and analyzes satellite and UAS data.
